Day 2 - Li River Cruise, Yangshuo

We awoke early the next morning, had breakfast, and hopped on a boat to cruise the Li River.
The scenery on the Li River was spectacular - jagged limestone karsts of varying shades of white and grey in every direction and around every turn, a surreal landscape in the mist set against the tranquil river and farmland

We finally arrived in Yangshuo, a touristy yet cute river town, lined with shops and restaurants.

Note that dog is a featured item on many menus (!) - the cute beige furry friends we saw around town were not necessarily pets!
We rented some tandem bikes, and explored the countryside outside of Yangshuo. This was one of the highlights of the trip - cruising through the amazing landscape on bikes, and stopping in some of the small villages to talk with and see how the locals live.

After our bike ride and dinner (not dog), we saw an incredible show - “Impressions of Liu Shan Jie” by famous director Zhang Yi Mou. It was a spectacle of light and imagery, set against the illuminated karsts of Guilin. I don’t believe there’s anything quite like it anywhere else in the world - truly spectacular.
